DESCRIPTION:  This SoftPaq creates the Compaq Server Support (SSD) for
the Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 diskettes.  There are a total of
three diskettes with this release. The SSD supports the

?	Added new support to Version 1.05.00.1012 of the Compaq 
	Gigabit Controller Driver, N1000NT3.SYS, for the Compaq 
	NC6134 Gigabit NIC.

Compaq SCSI Controller Driver(CPQ32FS2.SYS) 

?	Updated the Compaq SCSI Controller Driver from  Version 
	2.57 to Version 2.58.  
?	Added new support for the Compaq 64-Bit Dual Channel 
	Wide-Ultra2 SCSI Controller.
?	Modified the Compaq SCSI Controller Driver to detect 
	invalid firmware for Quantum DLT 7000 tape drives, 
	which are incapable of running at high speed with firmware 
	versions earlier than 0x2050.  When the incorrect firmware 
	is detected, the driver forces the tape drive to run at 
	the slowest speed, which is asynchronous 8-bit.

Compaq Server Support Setup for Microsoft Windows NT 3.51(SETUP.EXE) 

?	Added new support for the Compaq Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, 
	or Gigabit Controller Drivers so that they may be updated 
	locally.  Refer to Table 4 of the SMS Unattended 
	Installation/Update of the Compaq SSD for Windows NT 
	section for the associated constraints.
?	Fixed a Compaq Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, or Gigabit 
	Controller removal issue involving systems configured 
	with multiple Compaq Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, or Gigabit 
	Controllers.  In this case, using Version 1.34C of the 
	Compaq SSD for Windows NT 3.51 Setup program to remove a 
	Compaq Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, or Gigabit Controller 
	results in the removal of the Network icon from the 
	Control Panel even if other hardware instances were installed. 

Compaq System Management Driver(SYSMGMT.SYS)

?	Updated the Compaq System Management Driver version 
	from 3.18.02 to 3.19.01.  
?	Corrected a problem in the driver that would potentially 
	cause a Windows NT BugCheck if the system encountered a 
	large number of correctable processor errors.  This issue 
	affected all Pentium Pro, Pentium II, Pentium III, 
	Pentium II Xeon, and Pentium III Xeon systems configured 
	with Version 3.06.01 or later of the Compaq System Management 
	Driver.

For details, refer to NTREADME.HLP in the created support files.


HOW TO USE:

1.  Obtain three formatted 1.44 MB diskette.

2.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
    to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP9896.EXE.

3.  From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded SoftPaq
    file:

      SP9896 [ENTER]

    and follow the on-screen instructions. The following files will be
    created:
     
    QRST5.EXE
    276672US._01
    276672US._02
    276672US._03
    276672US.DOC

4.  Please read 276672US.DOC for instructions on using QRST5 to create
    the diskettes and for the steps to install the software.

5.  After the disks are created, you may delete the downloaded file
    SP9896.EXE and the other files it created from your hard drive if
    you wish.
