DESCRIPTION: This SoftPaq contains the files necessary to upgrade the adapter
drivers on a Compaq Remote Access Server 5418 or 5611.

Enhancements/Fixes:
 - Increased Upload Throughput Speeds
Upload throughput speeds for all types of files have increased up to
15 percent due to improvements in data handling when V.42 Error Correction
   is negotiated.
 - Improved Fax Functionality
A number of enhancements have been made to provide more robust Fax
   functionality.
 - Improved Compatibility with Client Modems
V.90 support and V.42bis compression, as well as specific fixes for
compatibility with specific modems, has improved connection compatibility
   with V.34 and V.90 modems.
 - Improved Robustness of V.42 Protocol
V.42 error correction has been enhanced for:
    * Better connection compatibility with other modems supporting
      V.42 error correction.
    * Faster throughput.
    * Improvements in maintaining long-term connections.
 - Improved Application Compatibility with Virtual COM Ports
The renaming of DIPORTS to COM ports was essential to obtain the maximum
compatibility from the Virtual COM ports (DIPORTS). Certain software
applications would not allow the name DIPORTS to be used as a valid port
name and required COM ports for their setups. The naming of COM ports is
done during setup and is transparent to the user.
 - Fixed V.32 GSM Callback Issues
Callback connections are now possible to clients using the Compaq Speedpaq
GSM Radio PC Card. When a connection is setup for a client using this card
in V.32 nontransparent mode, the callback number is entered and a callback
   connection is established.
 - Added Support for V.90 and V.42bis
The most important new features are the addition of V.90 and V.42bis compression.
    * The addition of V.90 makes the server capable of attaining the high
speeds supported in V.90 and improves connection compatibility with
      V.90 modems.
    * The addition of V.42bis compression greatly enhances throughputs at all
speeds when making V.42 Error Correction/V.42bis Compression connections.
 - Added ISDN protocol for Italy, Euro-ISDN (ETSI-DSS1) certified by CSELT
The drivers meet all requirements of CSELT (Telecom Italy) including:
    * The Progress Indicator in the outgoing setup message with analog type.
    * The Reject Incorrect Voice coding in the incoming call.
    * "No User Responding" as the call clearing cause with S/T cards if the
configured CPN is already in use.
 - Improved VCOM Stability
Improvements in the VCOM feature correct stability problems reported to Compaq.
 - Added Ignore Callback Number Option
The Ignore Callback Number option was added to the adapter configuration under
   WAN-miniport Advanced Features.
 - Accept V.42 LAPM error correction protocol calls only
This upgrade sets the default on the PRI/Modem card to accept V.42 LAPM error
correction protocol calls only. If a client modem is unable to negotiate a V.42
connection with the server, no connection will be made. Forcing error correction
enhances the stability of the server, as it does not see all the noise generated
by non-protocol connections. In order to change this setting to accept all
connections, protocol and non-protocol you will need to run a utility called
CARDWIZ.EXE. This utility may be found under C:\winnt\system32\drivers\crasisdn.
To change the default setting, perform the following steps.
    1. Run the utility CARDWIZ.EXE (may be found under C:\winnt\system32\drivers\crasisdn)
    2. Select the card you want to change the settings in and click on NEXT.
If you have more than one card in the server, you have to run the utility
       once for each card.
    3. In the Adjust Modem Related Settings section uncheck "Error Correction required".
       Click on NEXT.
    4. You do not need to make any changes in the Adjust Fax Related Settings section.
       Click on FINISH.
    5. You will need to reboot the server to apply these changes.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive.
