DESCRIPTION:  Creates the files needed to install the ESS 1868/1869 Audio 
drivers for Windows NT 4.0 for Deskpro models using the ESS 1868/1869 Audio 
Controller (see PRODUCTS AFFECTED). 

Enhancements/Fixes:
   - Added Compaq SSM (System Software Manager) support.
   - Added silent installation method.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive.
   The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename 
   based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. From the download directory, execute the SoftPaq.  When executed 
   with no parameters, files are extracted into the current directory.
   To extract the files into a different directory, specify the complete 
   path of the directory as a parameter:

     SPxxxx <path> 

   Enter "Y" to confirm and files are unpacked into the download 
   directory or the directory specified.  

3. After the files have been created, you may delete the  
   self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.

4. The driver may be installed directly from the files on the download 
   directory or a driver diskette can be created.  


        To install the driver:
                Method A
                ========
                Go to the location where the softpaq driver extracted.
                Type SETUP and follow the prompts on the screen.

                If you want to install the drivers in silent mode
                (no prompts),issue -s parameter to setup (SETUP -S).

                Method B
                ========
                Go to the Control Panel.
                Double-click the Multimedia Icon.
                Select the Devices Tab.
                Select Add.
                Select Unlisted or Updated Driver.
                Click OK.
                Enter the path where the drivers are located (from
                step 2) or enter A:\ if installing from a floppy disk.

   To make a disk of the ESS NT driver use the MAKEDISK.BAT file.

5. Select OK to install the driver.

6. After the driver has been installed, you may delete the files 
from the download directory if you wish.
