DESCRIPTION: This creates a ROMPaq firmware diskette that can be used to
restore or upgrade the System ROM to the 02/10/99 version in Deskpro EN
Series SFF models mentioned above, when they have a 686T5 Family ROM.
The ROM Family and ROM date can be determined by running F10 Setup.

This ROM includes a ROM-based F10 Setup. A Language Module option allows the
user to select the language used in F10 Setup: Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish,
French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, or Swedish.

NOTE: The user sees the chosen language only in F10 Setup, not in the
operating system.

This ROM is recommended for use with Microsoft Windows 98.

Enhancements/Fixes:

- Features new microcode patches for the Pentium III and Celeron processors.
- Features new microcode patch for the Pentium II processors.
- Corrects a condition where the system may fail to find USB hubs or high speed USB keyboards.
- Corrects a timing condition that caused the system BIOS to not find some USB devices that
were connected through a Compaq V1000 USB hub.
- Corrects a slow boot condition with newer CD-ROM drives that have drive shadowing, a new
ATAPI specification. This caused longer than normal boot times.
- Corrects a condition with video option ROM's greater than 32KB that exist with other PCI
option ROM's in the system. The condition caused a video hang with certain video cards.
- Corrects a condition with the IBM X.25 card when present with a PCI card featuring an option
ROM. This resulted in an error from the card's diagnostic program.
- Features an upgrade of the PXE code in the NIC option ROM area from version 0.99c to 0.99n.

HOW TO USE:

1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with
a file name based on the SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded Spxxxx file
to unpack the ROM image files. You will be prompted to
insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.

4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.

5. Keeping the newly created diskette in the A: drive, cycle
system power to boot from the ROMPaq diskette.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions to select the 02/10/99
Compaq System ROM or the Language Module option and flash the firmware.
