DESCRIPTION: This creates a ROMPaq firmware diskette that can be used to
restore or upgrade the System ROM to the 02/08/99 version in Deskpro EP
Series and SB Series models mentioned above, when they have a 686T2 Family ROM.
The ROM Family and ROM date can be determined by running F10 Setup.

This ROM includes a ROM-based F10 Setup. A Language Module option allows the user to
select the language used in F10 Setup: Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German,
Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, or Swedish.

This ROM version is recommended for use with Windows 98.

Enhancements/Fixes:

- Corrects a condition where DIMM Asset Management information being reported by
Compaq Insight Manager was being reported incorrectly on faster processors.
- Improves fan control algorithm.
- Adds code to reduce power consumption in sleep mode when using a Matrox
Eclipse card under Microsoft Windows NT 4.0.
- Corrects various resume-on-ring Microsoft Certification issues.
- Made various ACPI changes as required for Microsoft Certification.
- Adds Computer Setup option to disable PME wake-up.
This works around the problem of certain non-PME compliant network cards
constantly waking up the system and thereby preventing shutdown.
- Adds new "Output Only" printer mode in Computer Setup.
- Adds Computer Setup options to control display of the F10 prompt, F12 prompt,
and Option ROM prompting during POST.
- Corrects a Computer Setup Save & Restore condition where the serial number was
getting transferred during a save and restore from one system to another.
- Corrects a warm boot hang when changing the USB security option in Setup.
- Improved USB keyboard support that corrects a warm boot hang when some USB
  keyboards were attached.
- Corrects a condition in which the IBM Magnetic device driver locks up when no
  mouse is installed.
- Changes Setup to make time and date read-only when the correct administrator
  password has not been entered.
- Adds code to properly initialize video adapters based on 3DLabs graphics ASIC.
- Updates USB keyboard emulation to include support for capslock, numlock, and
scroll lock in a DOS environment.
- Corrects a 15-second delay when loading Windows 98.
- Now supports Intel Celeron CPU I.D. 665.

HOW TO USE:

1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded Spxxxx file
to unpack the ROM image files. Execute the QRST5.exe file and
follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to
insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.

4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.

5. Keeping the newly created diskette in the A: drive, cycle
system power to boot from the ROMPaq diskette.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions to select the 02/08/99
Compaq System ROM or the Language Module option and upgrade the firmware.
