DESCRIPTION:  Unpacks files containing drivers and diagnostics needed to
install/update the Compaq Fast Ethernet and Gigabit NICs listed above.
Optionally creates two installation diskettes.

IMPORTANT:  After installing SoftPaq SP8640, you need to install Softpaq SP10495. 
SP10495 contains an updated QNFT.SYS to replace the QNFT.SYS version 2.12.02.0002 
included in Softpaq SP8640, which can cause a blue screen when teaming NC series NICs in 
Windows NT 4.0.  
There are later releases of drivers available at www.compaq.com that do not use 
the QNFT.SYS file and do not exhibit this failure. Updating your drivers is recommended. 

Enhancements/Fixes:  
 - New NFT.NLM for Novell to correct teaming failures when using 
     IP and IPX networks concurrently. 
 - Updated Microsoft NT drivers that correct Blue Screen issue in selected 
     Proliant servers.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is an self-extracting
executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file
and follow the on-screen instructions.  Enter "Y" to confirm
the unpacking of files into the downloaded directory.

3. After the files have been unpacked, you may delete the
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 1.

4. To create nine optional installation diskettes, run CPQSETMT.EXE in the
CPQSETMT directory and follow the on-screen instructions.

5. For installation instructions, refer to the READ-1ST.TXT file from the
unpacked files.  There is no help file on the diskettes.

6. After the installation is completed, you may delete the files
unpacked in step 2.
