DESCRIPTION: The Tape Options ROMPaq diskette allows a user to
upgrade the ROM Firmware images on Compaq tape
product Options. The Tape Options ROMPaq consists of one
(1) diskette:
Disk 1 - Tape Options ROMpaq Firmware Upgrade Diskette for Compaq tape products
Enhancements/Fixes:
Firmware L708/4.22 for the Compaq 12/24-GB DAT drive corrects the following condition:
A loss of SCSI bus synchronization parameters could occur if
a "forced eject" is performed on the DAT drive.
A forced eject can occur when the tape drive is busy and any of the
following events occur:
- The Eject button is pressed and then within 5 minutes is pressed
momentarily two more times.
- The Eject button is pressed momentarily three times in a 5-minute
period.
- The Eject button is pressed once for at least 5 seconds.
Depending on the operating system and tape backup application, the
following symptoms may be observed on the Compaq 12/24-GB DAT drives:
- Command aborted during backup.
- Media failure reported.
- Format corruption.
- The tape may be erased or formatted, but when backup is attempted,
the backup application reports that the drive has no media in it.
TAPE DRIVES
===========
This version of Tape Options RomPaq includes support for the Compaq 12/24-GB DAT drive only.To obtain the latestest firmware for other Compaq tape devices, download the latest Option ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade utility from Compaq's Website, SoftPaq SP8050.
HOW TO USE:
1. Obtain one (1) formatted 1.44-MB diskette.
2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file
and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to
insert a formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.
4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.
5. The Tape Options ROMPaq diskette is a self-booting diskette. Place the ROMPaq diskette into your drive A: diskette drive and power cycle your system to begin updating the appropriate components.
