DESCRIPTION:  Creates a ROMPaq diskette to upgrade the System ROM in 
Armada 1700 Series notebooks to the 09/09/98 version.

Enhancements/Fixes in this release:

- Allows the user to enable Drive Lock.
  Warning - If a Drive Lock password is lost, the only solution is to
	    replace the hard drive.  The contents of the hard drive
	    would be lost.

- Allows the erasing of the power on password.

- Resolves issue with automatic hibernation at critically low battery 
  power levels when using Microsoft Windows 98.

- Added LS120 and Zip Drive to F10 setup.

- Eliminates possible lock-ups at the Microsoft logo screen.

- Updated the Intel patch microcode to deal with an Intel PII thermal
  bug.

- Allows the user to Re-enable a previously disabled removable diskette
  drive through either the Windows Device Manager or F10 setup.

- The parallel port defaults to bi-directional mode.

- Added Ultra DMA capability.

- Added multi-mode mouse support.

- Enables Wake on LAN.

Enhancements in this release include changes that were also implemented 
in a previous ROM version dated 06/08/98:

- Fixed problem of system improperly rebooting at the end of the ROMPaq
  update process.

- Resolved system hang when Stop/Remove Sundisk in Windows 98.

- Added 300/330Mhz cpu speed detection.

HOW TO USE:

1.  Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.

2.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change 
to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is an executable with 
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

3.  From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file 
and follow the on-screen instructions.  You will be prompted to 
insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.

4.  After the diskette has been created, you may delete the  
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.

5.  Power down the computer.

6.  Place the newly created Compaq Armada 1700 ROMpaq Diskette in 
Drive A: and power up the computer. Follow the instructions on the 
screen to upgrade the System ROM.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO THE SYSTEM WHILE PERFORMING 
THIS PROCEDURE!
