DESCRIPTION: This creates a ROMPaq firmware diskette that can be used to
restore or upgrade the System ROM in Deskpro EN Series models with a 686T3
Family ROM.

The ROM Family and ROM date can be determined by running F10 Setup.

NOTE: This ROM has been tested on all Deskpro EN Series models with a 686T3
Family ROM. It supports the latest hardware features on the latest models.
It is not required, however, on early Deskpro EN Series models.
The required ROM for the stable and consistent program for early models is the
04/13/98 ROM (SP5354) for processors under 450-MHz or the 04/14/98 ROM (SP7983)
for the Intel 450-MHz processor.

This ROM version is recommended for use with Windows 98.

This ROM includes a ROM-based F10 Setup. A Language Module option allows the user to
select the language used in F10 Setup: Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German,
Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, or Swedish.

Enhancements/Fixes:

 - Adds support for Windows 98 ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface).
ACPI enables a PC to turn its peripherals on and off for improved power management.
 - Adds support for Intel Pentium II 450-MHz processor.
 - Adds support for USB (Universal Serial Bus) hub and keyboard in a DOS environment.
 - Adds support for SCSI Ultra Wide /U2 Controller.
 - Adds peripheral device security from a Plug and Play standpoint.
 - Adds support to "hot plug" USB devices at the back of the computer.
 - Fixes Windows NT install problem that causes the system to lock up.
 - Fixes a problem with USB camera recognition.
 - Fixes a problem with device security in ACPI for UART (Universal Asynchronous
Receiver Transmitter) serial ports and parallel ports.
 - Fixes a problem when Power Management timer was set to greater than 120 minutes.
 - Fixes a problem that would occasionally lock up the computer if a network
controller was installed in a system with an AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) video
   controller.

HOW TO USE:

1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file
and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to
insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.

4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.

5. Keeping the newly created diskette in the A: drive, cycle
system power to boot from the ROMPaq diskette.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions to select the 07/01/98
Compaq System ROM or the Language Module option and flash the firmware.
