DESCRIPTION:  Creates a copy of the original driver diskette for 
the Compaq Microcom 420 56K PC Card Fax Modem.  The diskette contains 
the modem driver file and files needed to install the Country Select
Utility, which configures the Compaq Microcom 420 Modem for use with
public telephone networks in selected countries.

This version is not an upgrade.  It is provided here as a convenience 
for customers who may need to restore this modem software for any reason.

HOW TO USE:

1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change 
to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is an executable with 
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file 
and follow the on-screen instructions.  You will be prompted to 
insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.

4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the  
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.

5. Install the modem in the computer according to the instructions
in the QuickInstall Guide that came with the modem.  When prompted 
for the modem driver file, enter the path to the driver diskette 
created above.

6. To install the Country Select Utility program, run the following 
programs from the diskette and follow the on-screen instructions:

   For Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0, run SETUP32.EXE
   For Windows 3.1, run \WIN31\SETUP.EXE 

7. After the driver and the Country Select Utility have been installed, 
you may delete the file downloaded in step 2 if you wish.
