DESCRIPTION: Unpacks the files needed to install the video ROM for
the ATI Rage Pro Turbo 1x Graphics Controller used in certain models of the
Deskpro EN, EP, and SB Series (see NOTE above). Optionally allows an
installation diskette to be created. The video ROM can only be updated
from DOS Mode. It cannot be updated from a DOS session.
Enhancements/Fixes:
- Optimized Memory Read Data setting to ensure read data integrity across
full range of memory designs. (HCLK feedback skew adjusted from "4" to "0")
- New FLASH.EXE resolves an issue where on rare occassions the video ROM
would not be updated properly.
HOW TO USE:
1. Download the SoftPaq to a temporary, empty directory on your
hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable
with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
2. From the download directory, execute the SoftPaq. When executed
with no parameters, files are extracted into the current directory.
To extract the files into a different directory, specify the complete
path of the directory as a parameter:
SPxxxx <path>
Enter "Y" to confirm and files are unpacked into a subdirectory named
Disk_01 that is created under the download directory or the directory
specified.
3. After the files have been created, you may delete the
self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.
4. The video ROM may be installed directly from the files on the hard
drive or an installation diskette can be created.
To create an installation diskette, run MAKEDISK.BAT.
To install the video ROM, restart the computer in DOS Mode and
run FLASH.EXE.
IMPORTANT: This must be run from DOS Mode (not a DOS session).
To install from the hard drive, enter:
<path>\disk_01\flash gdcpq013.087
where <path> is the drive and directory chosen in step 2
To install from the optional installation diskette, enter:
A:\flash gdcpq013.087
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
For more detailed instructions, please consult the Flash.txt file.
