DESCRIPTION: Unpacks files needed to install Compaq Fibre Channel
Backup Diagnostics for Windows NT. This is a subset of the normal
Compaq Windows NT Diagnostics specifically to help identify any
potential problems with the Fibre Channel Tape Controller and the
DLT 15 Cartridge Library Model 3570 on the Fibre Channel Arbitrated
Loop. It can also be used to upgrade firmware for these devices.
Note: this is an interim solution which supports only the
Fibre Channel Tape Controller and the DLT 15 Cartridge Library Model
3570. The next release of the Compaq Windows NT Diagnostics will
integrate this capability into the full set of diagnostics.
It is important to realize this subset of the Compaq Windows NT
Diagnostics can not coexist with normal Compaq Windows NT Diagnostics
probably already installed. For the safest operation when switching
between the two versions, be sure to uninstall the current version and
install the desired version according to the procedures below. This
ensures proper updating of the registry and other directories.
Enhancements/Fixes:
- Support for Compaq StorageWorks Enterprise Backup Solution
HOW TO USE:
1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive.
The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename
based on the SoftPaq Number above.
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
Entering "Y" to confirm the unpacking of files creates a new directory
folder in the download directory. All files are unpacked into this
newly created directory.
To create the two optional installation diskettes, run MAKEDISK.BAT and
follow on-screen instructions.
3. To install Interactively:
a) Remove any previous versions of Compaq Diagnostics for Windows NT
and Compaq Fibre Channel Backup Diagnostics for Windows NT.
- Select Start, Settings, Control Panel
- Select Add/Remove Programs
- Select Compaq Diagnostics for Windows NT and "Add/Remove"
b) Install this version of Compaq Fibre Channel Backup Diagnostics
for Windows NT
- Insert diskette #1 into drive A: if installing from optional diskettes
- Run A:\SETUP.EXE or <path>\SETUP.EXE where <path> is directory from step 2
- Select Next
- Select Finish
c) Restart the computer for the changes to be in effect
To install non-interactively ("silently"):
a) Go to the download directory from step 2 above, or copy the contents of all
two (2) optional installation diskettes into a directory on the hard drive.
b) Run SETUP.EXE -S from the directory in a) above.
c) Restart the computer for the changes to be in effect.
4. After the installation is completed, you may delete the directory
created in step 2 if you wish.
