DESCRIPTION:  This Softpaq brings together all the necessary components to 
perform Remote Management on the Compaq Professional Workstation 5100.
It unpacks four other SoftPaq files (SP4045, SP5181, SP5910, SP5911) and 
a template file (CPQSECWS.SOT).

Compaq Remote Management allows the user to remotely wakeup and shutdown 
client Workstations, flash the System ROM, and configure security options.  

Compaq Remote Management requires the following components, all of 
which are included in this Softpaq :

1. Compaq Support Software (SSD) for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, 
   Version 2.04 Rev A.
   Includes the Remote Services Driver which is automatically installed by
   the SSD Setup program which includes support for ROM Flash and Security.
   (In SoftPaq SP5181.EXE)

2. Remote Management Setup Utilities Version 1.00 Rev B.
   Contains administrative programs used to remote wakeup, shutdown, 
   and develop packages that can be distributed to perform ROM Flashing and 
   Remote Security Administration. (In SoftPaq SP4045.EXE)

   IMPORTANT: This version of Remote Management Setup does work on the 
              Professional Workstation 5100, even though file SP4045.TXT 
              does not list this as one of the Products Affected.  
              The Professional Workstation Security Options Template
	      (see item 4. below) adapts the use of this utility to the 
              Professional Workstation 5100.

3. Compaq Cabinet (*.CAB) File.
   Required by the Remote Management Setup utility for remote ROM 
   flashing. The *.CAB file is a file that contains a ROM binary image 
   file with a secure digital signature.  Remote Management Setup 
   utility verifies the digital signature during the remote flashing 
   process.   (In SoftPaq SP5911.EXE)

4. Professional Workstation Security Options Template.
   This file contains parameters specific to features for the 
   Professional Workstation 5100. (File CPQSECWS.SOT)
      
5. Professional Workstation 5100 Flash Recovery ROMpaq dated 01/23/98. 
   System ROM dates prior to January 23, 1998 are not capable of remote
   management. (In SoftPaq SP5910.EXE)

IMPORTANT: In preparation For Remote Management note the following: 

Distribution software, such as Microsoft SMS or Norton Administrator 
for Networks, is required to transmit the remote management requests 
over the network. 

Specific Remote Management instructions are available in the Remote
Management Administrator's Guide, located in the online help of the 
Remote Management Setup application.

Before you flash a System ROM, be sure to have a Flash Recovery ROMpaq 
Firmware Diskette (step 6 below) in the unlikely event of flash upgrade 
failure. 

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change 
to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is a self-extracting
executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file 
and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the files.
The number of files to be created and total file size is displayed.
You will be given the chance to specify the target directory for 
the files, or default to the download directory.
The following files will be created:
       README.TXT
       CPQSECWS.SOT
       SP4045.EXE
       SP4045.TXT
       SP5181.EXE
       SP5181.TXT
       SP5910.EXE
       SP5910.TXT
       SP5911.EXE
       SP5911.TXT

3. After the files have been created, you may delete the  
self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.

4. To install the Compaq Support Software for Microsoft Windows 
NT 4.0, follow the instructions in the file SP5181.TXT.

5. To install the Remote Management Setup Utilities, 
Version 1.00 Rev B, follow the instructions in the file SP4045.TXT.

6. To create the Flash Recovery ROMPaq Firmware Diskette for the
Compaq Professional Workstation 5100, follow the instructions in 
the file SP5910.TXT. 

7. To install the cabinet (CAB) file, first complete step 5 above,
then follow the instructions in file SP5911.TXT.  This CAB file 
contains a binary image for the 01/23/98 System ROM and is used by 
Remote Management Setup to flash the System ROM on target 
Workstations on a network.

8. To install the CPQSECWS.SOT template file, first complete step 5
above, then copy CPQSECWS.SOT to the directory \RMSetup\Template .
