TSR (terminate-and-stay-resident) utility that sets the 8X14 video mode for
the Compaq S3 V2/GX or S3 ViRGE/GX graphics controller used in certain Deskpro
models (see PRODUCTS AFFECTED). Optionally allows a utility diskette to be created.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a temporary, empty directory on your
hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable
with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. From the download directory, execute the SoftPaq. When executed
with no parameters, files are extracted into the current directory.
To extract the files into a different directory, specify the complete
path of the directory as a parameter:

     SPxxxx <path>

Enter "Y" to confirm and files are unpacked into the download
directory or the directory specified.

3. After the files have been created, you may delete the
self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.

4. The program 8x14.EXE may be run directly from the files on the download
directory or a utility diskette can be created. To create a diskette,
run MAKEDISK.BAT.

5. To load the TSR, run 8x14.EXE at the DOS command prompt.
   Enter:

   <path>\8x14.EXE

where <path> is the drive and directory chosen in step 2 or a
   diskette drive letter.

6. Select OK.

7. If the program 8x14.EXE has been copied to a diskette or another directory,
you may delete the files from the download directory if you wish.
