DESCRIPTION: Creates the MS-DOS SCSI Support Diskette for the Compaq 32-Bit
Fast-SCSI-2 Controller and the Compaq SMART SCSI Array Controller.
The diskette contains the following DOS drivers:
- FWS2ASPI.SYS Provides DOS ASPI support on all COMPAQ 32-Bit
Fast-SCSI-2 and COMPAQ 32-Bit Fast-Wide SCSI-2
controllers and support for accessing int 13h SCSI
devices in virtual mode without virtual DMA services.
- FWS2CD.SYS Provides ASPI-based support for reading ISO 9660
CD-ROMs under Microsoft's CD-ROM extensions, MSCDEX.EXE.
- FWS2DISK.SYS Provides full DOS support for up to 24 logical
drives when used with FWS2ASPI.
- SMRTSCSI.SYS Provides support on SMART SCSI Array controller for
accessing logical drives in protected mode. Also
supports multiple controllers and up to 24 logical
drives.
- MSCDEX.EXE Provides CD-ROM support under DOS.
ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES:
- Allows driver to support a maximum of 16 host adapters.
- AddS PCI bus/device/function numbers to host adapter parameters so that
hardware discovery in SmartStart can properly distinguish the two embedded
SCSI controllers.
HOW TO USE:
1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.
2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file
and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to
insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.
4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.
5. Run README.COM on the diskette for instructions on installing and
using the software.
