DESCRIPTION: Creates a bootable diskette to upgrade the System ROM to
the 10/22/97 version on only the Presario notebook models listed above.

This version fixes problems that may occur with certain Direct-X games.

This version also incorporates the following changes from earlier ROM
versions:

Loss of Modem Under Device Manager

Fixes a problem where some modems would not appear in the Device Manager.
They initialized with the configuration registers at 0x130 instead of 0x260.

Bottom PCMCIA Slot

Fixes a problem that caused some PC (Cardbus/PCMCIA) Cards to lock the
system when used in the bottom slot.

Warm Boot Lock Ups

A problem was indentified that caused the unit to sometimes
lock up while attempting a warm boot. This problem occurred
most of the time when exiting F10 setup. The user would hear
a series of beeps in a 1-3-3-1 pattern, the screen would blank,
and the system would lock up. This problem is fixed.

Hibernate Resume Problems

Fixes problem where the system would sometimes lock up if keys were
  pressed while resuming from hibernation.

Fixes problem where the system would lock up when resuming from
hibernation if the previous boot was incomplete.

Fixes slight video corruption in Hibernate screen.

F10 Setup Power Mangement Settings

In previous ROM versions, the IDLE option was incorrectly
defaulted to ON if the user chose "Maximum Performance" in
the Power setup, while IDLE was turned OFF when "Maximum
Power Savings" was chosen. The descibed settings were oposite
of what they should be. This ROM version corrects this problem.

Neomagic Video BIOS 1.03 Upgrade

In previous ROM versions, the TV option was incorrectly presented
to the user as a choice under Display Properties/Neomagic/Display Options.
"TV Out" is not supported on these models, and the TV radio button is now
  unselectable.

Supports 20X CD ROM drives

HOW TO USE:

1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file
and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to
insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.

4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.

5. Turn off the computer and insert the created diskette.

6. Turn the computer ON.

7. The computer boots from the diskette and a batch file applies the update.
Follow the on-screen prompts. When the update is complete, the notebook
will beep and display a message.

8. After the update has finished, remove the diskette and turn the unit OFF
again. The updated ROM will be in effect the next time the
    computer is started.
