System Management/Health driver
NetFlex-3/Compaq Netelligent 10/100 TX Embedded UTP/Coax network adapter
NetFlex-3/Compaq Netelligent 10/100 TX Embedded UTP/Coax network
adapter monitoring, configuration, and duplex utility
Compaq 10T PCI UTP and 10/100 TX PCI UTP
IDA/IDA-2 disk controller
SMART/SMART-2 array controller
32-Bit SCSI-2 Family of controllers
Compaq Support Software diskette Installation utility
Enhancements/Fixes:
For details, refer to NTREADME.HLP in the created support files.
This version primarily supports the Compaq Dual Channel Wide-Ultra
SCSI-3 Controller and the Compaq ProLiant Storage System/U. It has
been tested with and supports NT Server Enterprise Edition.
Compaq Dual Channel Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 Controller
This controller was designed primarily as a complimentary controller for
high end tape solutions, like Compaq?s DLT Tape Array II and DLT Libraries;
it provides support for the maximum number of devices possible while only
taking up a single PCI slot. It delivers exceptional system performance
along with two separate SCSI-3 channels.
Compaq ProLiant Storage System/U
The Compaq ProLiant Storage System/U is Compaq's latest edition to the
ProLiant Storage System family. The ProLiant Storage System/U is defined
as a disk storage box replacement for the original ProLiant Storage System.
The difference between ProLiant Storage System and ProLiant Storage System/U
is that this storage box supports SCSI Ultra speeds negotiation and the new
Ultra speed disk drives.
Compaq PCI Hot Plug (CPQPCI.EXE)
Added support for multifunction devices such as the Compaq Dual Channel
Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 Controller.
Compaq Remote Monitor Service CPQRCMC.EXE)
Added support for multifunction devices such as the Compaq Dual Channel
Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 Controller.
Compaq System Management Driver (SYSMGMT.SYS)
Changed the policy for stopping at the F1 prompt for systems equipped with
the Integrated Management Log. These systems will no longer stop at the F1
prompt on the next boot after the system encounters one or more of the
following critical errors:
- Fan failure
- System overheating
- Power supply failure
- Processor power module failure
- Processor failure
Systems not equipped with the Integrated Management Log will still stop at the
F1 prompt after encountering these errors.
Updated the severity of error messages sent to the Windows NT Event Viewer to
match the severity of the corresponding error messages sent to the Integrated
Management Log. The updated messages are used for reporting:
- Fan failure
- System overheating
- Processor failure
- Correctable memory errors
- Fan removal
- Power supply removal
- Power supply failure
- AC line problems
- Power supply overload
Error messages placed in the NT Event Viewer by a previous version of the Compaq
System Management driver will not be updated.
Corrected reporting of fan failure on the Compaq ProLiant 6500 during the
hot-plug fan redundancy check, which is performed once a day. This check involves
briefly running the secondary fans, if installed, to ensure that they will operate
in the event of the failure of a primary fan. A fan could be improperly reported
as failed after the check is complete.
Corrected logging of Intelligent Power Supply fan failures. These failures were
improperly reported as AC line under-voltage errors.
Corrected logging of Intelligent Power Supply overload conditions to report the
voltage of the overloaded voltage channel.
Corrected logging of the physical PCI slot number after a Non-Maskable Interrupt
(NMI) caused by a parity error on the PCI bus. The physical slot number was
improperly reported as unknown.
Corrected a problem with using the wrong capacity for Intelligent Power Supplies
operating from a 220V AC line. The capacity was incorrectly set to 500W, which
is appropriate for 110V operation, instead of the proper 750W. As a result, a
heavily loaded system operating from a 220V line could be incorrectly reported
as having a non-redundant power subsystem.
Added an enhancement for the Compaq ProSignia 200, allowing the system to
determine which pair of ECC memory modules failed. The new event log message
that you may receive is "The Compaq System Management Driver has determined that
DIMM pair #1 has exceeded its threshold of correctable errors. Please contact
your Compaq service representative."
Added support for the Compaq Hot Plug Redundant Power Supply on the Compaq
ProLiant 1200, Compaq ProLiant 1600, and Compaq ProLiant 2500. This support,
with the correct hardware/software/ROM upgrade, provides you with the following
features:
- Redundant power supply failures logging to the NT Event Viewer, the Integrated
Management Log (IML), and the Compaq Management Display (if your system supports
this utility)
- Lack of redundancy logging to the NT Event Viewer, the Integrated Management Log
(IML), and the Compaq Management Display (if your system supports this utility)
- Redundant power supply fan failure logging to the NT Event Viewer, the Integrated
Management Log (IML), and the Compaq Management Display (if your system supports
this utility)
- NT system shutdown and reboot on the redundant power supply fan failure
- Logging of the system shutdown to the NT Event Viewer
HOW TO USE:
1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
to that directory. The file that is downloaded is a self-extracting
executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
2. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file
and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the files.
The number of files to be created and total file size is displayed.
You will be given the chance to specify the target directory for
the files, or default to the download directory.
The following files will be created:
README.TXT
SRVR.EXE
3. After the files have been created, you may delete the
self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.
4. From the directory in which the files are created, execute the
self-extracting executable:
SRVR.EXE [ENTER]
5. Follow the instructions on the screen to extract (unzip) the support
software files to a folder on your hard drive and run the program
SETUP.EXE to install the software.
