DESCRIPTION:  This SoftPaq unpacks two files used to install
Compaq Support Software for Microsoft Windows NT 5.0 Beta 1.
This support software contains Windows NT 5.0 Beta 1 drivers 
developed by Compaq to support the subsystems and features of 
Compaq Systems products listed below.

IMPORTANT:  Microsoft Windows NT 5.0 Beta 1 is not a final product.
Likewise, the support software components from Compaq in this SoftPaq 
are not final products and, therfore, are not supported by Compaq Technical
Support.  Compaq recommends that you test pre-released software in 
non-production environments.

Feel free to report problems specific to Compaq Professional
Workstation and Server products using Windows NT 5.0 Beta 1 to
[email protected].  However, this email address is NOT
Product Support and you will NOT receive a reply.  Compaq will review
and evaluate all submissions during the beta testing phase of Microsoft
Windows NT 5.0.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change 
   to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is a self-extracting
   executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file 
   and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the files.
   The number of files to be created and total file size is displayed.
   You will be given the chance to specify the target directory for
   the files, or default to the download directory.
   The following files will be created:
       SSD50BT1.EXE
       SSD50BT1.DOC

3. After the files have been created, you may delete the  
   self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.

4. From the directory in which the files are created, execute the 
   self-extracting executable:
       SSD50BT1.EXE

5. Follow the instructions on the screen to extract (unzip) the support 
   software files to a formatted diskette or a folder on your hard drive.
   The Support Software for Microsoft Windows NT 5.0 Beta 1 is extracted
   to a directory named NTB1SSD5.00A on the diskette or in the folder.

NOTE: The installation instructions in the README are intended for 
installation from a diskette.  In order to install from a folder on 
the hard drive, you must provide the full path to the INF file for the 
driver being installed.

6. For installation instructions, refer to the README.TXT or README.HTM 
   file in the NTB1SSD5.00A directory (see NOTE above).
