DESCRIPTION:  Unpacks a file that can be used to patch an installation of 
Compaq Insight Manager Version 3.40 to fix an application error at startup 
caused by new behavior of the Borland Database Engine (BDE) version 4.  
This BDE version is installed by applications such as Corel WordPerfect Suite 8 
and Delphi 3.

At startup of Compaq Insight Manager, the system may display a message like:  

     The instruction at "..." referenced memory at "...". 
     The memory could not be "read".
 OR
     The exception unknown software exception (...x) occurred 
     in the application at location ...x.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to the folder into which you previously installed 
Compaq Insight Manager 3.40.  In general, this is the following folder:    

C:\Program Files\Compaq\Insight Manager\   

The file that is downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename 
based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file 
and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the files.
The number of files to be created and total file size is displayed.
The files are: 
    SP4989.TXT
    PATCH.EXE
    PATCH.RTP

3. Execute PATCH.EXE to modify the Compaq Insight Manager installation.  
Three files are modified: 
    CIM_MAIN.DLL
    CIM_SNET.DLL
    CIM_UTIL.DLL

4. After the patch process is complete, you may delete the self-
extracting file downloaded in step 1, as well as the unpacked files 
from step 2.
