DESCRIPTION:

This Softpaq creates the OS/2 Support Software Diskettes
for Compaq Version 3.10 Rev A. For complete information
about changes and enhancements to the OS/2 2.x Support
Software diskette, please read WHATSNEW.HTM on the First
Diskette by typing
         A:\VIEWME A:\HTMLRDR\WHATSNEW.HTM
at the OS/2 prompt.

NEW FEATURES AND UPDATES:

This section details the new features and problems fixed
by the contents of the Compaq Support Software Diskette
v3.10A for OS/2 2.x or later.

1 Compaq SSD Documentation For OS/2

The Compaq SSD Documentation Application from Compaq Version 1.00, 
is primarily used to read the HTM files supplied with Support
Software Diskette (SSD) for OS/2.

2 Compaq System Management Driver

The Compaq System Management Driver Version 1.00 contains
support for the new Compaq Servers ProLiant 800 6/350-1,
ProLiant 1600 6/400-1, ProLiant 1600R 6/400-1, ProLiant 1600
6/350-1. This driver will load only on these servers and
unload on all the older machines.It supports the following
features:

*   Integrated Management Log.
*   Correctable Error Log.
*   Critical Error Log.
*   Automatic Server Recovery.
*   PCI Bus Utilization Monitoring.

The following feature is supported only on ProLiant 1600
6/400-1, ProLiant 1600R 6/400-1, and ProLiant 1600 6/350-1:

*   Compaq Hot Plug Redundant Power supplies.

3 Compaq System Wellness Utility

The Compaq System Wellness Utility for OS/2 Version 1.00
manages the Wellness of Compaq Severs running IBM OS/2.
It allows the user to view, archive and clear the logs.In
order to run the utility, Java Virtual Machine v1.1.4 needs
to be installed.

4 Compaq SCSI Driver updates for OS/2

The Compaq SCSI driver for OS/2, CPQ53CX.ADD Version 2.50
has been updated to fix the following problem.

*  The slowing down of the system when the CD storage System
was switched off with the Compaq Insight Manager Agents
still running has been fixed.
*  The system trap seen during a stress on 12X CD ROM Drive
has been fixed.The problem was observed on Proliant 5000.
*  The driver has been fixed to support more than seven SCSI
controllers on the system.

5 Compaq Wellness Driver Updates for OS/2

The Compaq Wellness Driver for OS/2, Version 3.55 has been
updated to provide support for Wellnes Utilities on OS/2.
This driver will load only on the older machines and not on
ProLiant 800 6/350-1,ProLiant 1600 6/400-1, ProLiant 1600R
6/400-1 or ProLiant 1600 6/350-1.

6 Compaq Array Driver Updates for OS/2

The Compaq Array Driver for OS/2 , CPQARRAY.ADD Version 3.40
has been enhanced to support controller redundancy.This new
feature enables the user to configure two array controllers
as redundant back-up pair using the command line option(/R).
The redundant controller takes over if the primary/active
controller fails.

The driver has been updated to fix hang/trap during system
boot when an interrupt(IRQ) is shared between two different
types of controllers.This problem did not affect the IRQ
sharing between Array Controllers.

7 Compaq OS2APIC Driver Updates for OS/2

The Compaq OS2APIC driver for OS/2 , OS2APIC.PSD Version 2.61
has been updated to eliminate a minor bug observed in
driver Version 2.60 .

HOW TO USE:

1.Download the Softpaq to an empty directory on your
  hard drive and change to that directory. The file that
  is downloaded is SP4717.EXE.

2.From that drive and directory, execute the Softpaq
  file:
      SP4717 [ENTER]

  The following files should be created:

  QRST5.EXE
  276549US._01
  276549US._02
  276549US._03
  SP4717.TXT

3. Obtain 3 formatted 1.44-MB diskettes.

4. To create the diskettes, run QRST5 and follow the
   on-screen instructions.

5. After the diskettes are created, you may delete the
   downloaded file SP4717.EXE and the other files created
   on your hard drive if you wish.

6. Refer to README.HTM on the First Diskette by typing
        A:\VIEWME A:\HTMLRDR\README.HTM 
   at the OS/2 prompt for installation instructions and 
   additional information.
