DESCRIPTION:
Creates two diskettes:
- Computer Setup/V Version 1.23 Rev A
- Personal Computer Diagnostics Version 10.19 Rev C
These related utilities were formerly in two separate SoftPaqs.
Computer Setup and PC Diagnostics are both pre-installed on the
Diagnostics Partition. The diskettes in this SoftPaq can be used to
update these utilities on the Diagnostics Partition or to restore them
if the Diagnostics Partition has been destroyed. Both utilities can be
run by pressing F10 when the cursor moves to the upper right corner of
the screen during power-up or reboot. Or they can be run directly from
these diskettes.
Computer Setup allows the user to configure security and power
management settings as well as system resources (DMA, IRQ, I/O Ports,
and Memory).
A Compaq Personal Computer Diagnostics diskette contains programs that can...
- TEST both Compaq EISA and ISA machines from the Desktop and Portable
Divisions.
- INSPECT (display machine config) both Compaq EISA and ISA machines
from the Desktop and Portable Divisions.
FIXES:
- Setup no longer locks up after configuring IBM PCI 5250 and 3270 PCI
emulation boards.
- Setup now shows correct PCI board names instead of "Invalid Class".
Adds the "other communication device" class definition to the list of
PCI boards.
- Fixes issues with the date/time fields:
- Adds Cancel button
- Adds date/time button for French, German, Spanish, Dutch, and Portuguese.
- Corrects keyboard activation letters
ENHANCEMENTS:
- Setup diskette includes the latest Diagnostic files (10.19.A2).
HOW TO USE:
1. Obtain two (2) formatted 1.44-MB diskettes.
2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file
and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to
insert the formatted diskettes in a drive to create the diskettes.
Label them as follows:
First Diskette -- Computer Setup/V Version 1.23 A
Second Diskette -- Personal Computer Diagnostics Version 10.19 Rev A
4. After the diskettes have been created, you may delete the
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.
5. To install Computer Setup/V on the Diagnostics Partition, or to run
it directly from the diskettes, power down your computer, place the
first diskette created in Drive A:, power up your computer, and follow
the on-screen menu.
6. To install Personal Computer Diagnostics on the Diagnostics
Partition, or to run it directly from the diskettes, power down your
computer, place the second diskette created in Drive A:, power up your
computer, and follow the on-screen menu.
