SOFTPAQ NUMBER: SP4275
PART NUMBER: N/A
FILE NAME: IBMMPCO.LAN
TITLE: ProLiant 5000 Netware Fix for Auto 16/4 Token Ring PCI Controller
VERSION: 2.08 Rev A
LANGUAGE: English
CATEGORY: Systems/Software Solutions
PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Compaq Proliant 5000
OPERATING SYSTEM: Novell Netware 3.x, 4.x
SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: N/A
EFFECTIVE DATE: 07 August 1997
ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: Yes
SOFTPAQ UTILITY VERSION: 2.X
SUPERSEDES: N/A
DESCRIPTION: This SoftPaq unpacks IBMMPCO.LAN, which is the Netware
Server driver for the Compaq Auto 16/4 Token Ring PCI Controller
and IBM Lanstreamer 16/4 Token Ring PCI controller.
This version resolves an error where the Netware console intermittently
displays an error message such as:
"Lost Hardware Interrupt on Primary Interrupt Controller
has been detected"
HOW TO USE:
1. Download the SoftPaq to a temporary, empty directory on your
hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable
with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
2. From the download directory, execute the SoftPaq. When executed
with no parameters, files are extracted into the current directory.
To extract the files into a different directory, specify the complete
path of the directory as a parameter:
SPxxxx <path>
Enter "Y" to confirm and files are unpacked into the download
directory or the directory specified.
3. After the files have been created, you may delete the
self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.
4. To install the driver, copy the file IBMMPCO.LAN to SYS:\SYSTEM.
IMPORTANT: Unloading the LAN driver will cause all current connections
to be dropped, so this should not be done on an active LAN during regular
business hours.
To activate the new driver, unload the old driver by typing:
UNLOAD IBMMPCO.LAN
5. Next load the driver by typing
LOAD IBMMPCO.LAN
6. Next bind the driver to the appropriate LAN protocol. For example :
BIND IPX IBMMPCO net=xxx
7. For correct network number etc., refer to the AUTOEXEC.NCF file for the
system.
