DESCRIPTION: Unpacks the files needed to install Windows NT 3.51 video
drivers for Compaq Deskpro and Prolinea models with a Matrox Millennium,
Performance, or Millennium II Graphics Controller. Optionally allows a driver
diskette to be created.
HOW TO USE:
1. Download the SoftPaq to a temporary, EMPTY directory on your
hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable
with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
2. From the download directory, execute the SoftPaq. When executed
with no parameters, files are extracted into the current directory.
To extract the files into a different directory, specify the complete
path of the directory as a parameter:
SPxxxx <path>
Enter "Y" to confirm and files are unpacked into the download
directory or the directory specified. A subdirectory is also
created containing driver files.
3. After the files have been created, you may delete the
self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.
4. The driver may be installed directly from the files on the download
directory or a driver diskette can be created.
To create a driver diskette, run MAKEDISK.BAT.
To install the driver,
- Open the ControlPanel/Display applet.
- Press the 'Change Display Type...' button.
- In the Display Type dialog box, press the 'Change...' button.
- In the Select Device dialog box, press the 'Other...' button.
- In the Install From Disk dialog box, type the location of the
Matrox Millennium installation files (e.g. "A:\" or C:\path)
- From the displayed list, select a resolution and pixel depth
supported by your card and monitor, then press 'Install'.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
5. When the installation is complete, close Windows and restart Windows
for the new driver to take effect.
