DESCRIPTION:  Creates the files needed to install the ESS 1868 
Audio drivers for Windows NT 4.0 for Deskpro 2000/4000 
models using the ESS 1868 audio controller. 

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a temporary, EMPTY directory on your 
hard drive.  The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable 
with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. From the download directory, execute the SoftPaq.  When executed 
with no parameters, files are extracted into the current directory.
To extract the files into a different directory, specify the complete 
path of the directory as a parameter:

     SPxxxx <path> 

Enter "Y" to confirm and files are unpacked into the download 
directory or the directory specified

3. After the files have been created, you may delete the  
self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.

4. The driver may be installed directly from the files on the download 
directory or a driver diskette can be created.  

To create a driver diskette, run MAKEDISK.BAT.

To install the driver, go to the Control Panel.
Double-click the Multimedia Icon.  Click Devices Tab.  
Select Add.  Select Unlisted or Updated Driver.  Click OK. 
Type in the path to the download directory containing the files 
extracted in step 2 and press enter:
   c:\<path>\
Or if installing from a created diskette, enter:
   a:\
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

5. When the installation is complete, shut down and restart the computer 
for the new driver to take effect.
