DESCRIPTION:  Unpacks the files needed to install Windows NT 3.51 audio
drivers for the Compaq ESS 1868 Audio Controller used in the above-
referenced Deskpro 4000/6000 models.  Optionally allows a driver
diskette to be created.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a temporary, EMPTY directory on your 
hard drive.  The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable 
with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. From the download directory, execute the SoftPaq.  When executed 
with no parameters, files are extracted into the current directory.
To extract the files into a different directory, specify the complete 
path of the directory as a parameter:

     SPxxxx <path> 

Enter "Y" to confirm and files are unpacked into the download 
directory or the directory specified.  A subdirectory is also
created containing ESS driver files.  

3. After the files have been created, you may delete the  
self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.

4. The driver may be installed directly from the files on the download 
directory or a driver diskette can be created.  
To create a driver diskette, run MAKEDISK.BAT.
To install the driver, from the Control Panel select:
   Sound Driver/Change/Have Disk
Type in the path to the download directory containing the files 
extracted in step 2 and press enter:
   c:\<path>\
Or if installing from a created diskette, enter:
   a:\
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

5. When the installation is complete, shut down and restart the computer 
for the new driver to take effect.

DESCRIPTION:  Creates the ESS Sound Driver Support diskette for Microsoft Windows NT 3.51, which provides Windows NT 3.51 audio drivers for the Compaq ESS 1868 
Audio Controller used in the above-referenced Deskpro 4000/6000 models.

HOW TO USE:

2.  From the download directory, execute the SoftPaq.  When executed with no parameters, files are extracted into the current directory.   To extract the files into a different directory, specify the complete path of the directory as a parameter:

SPXXXX <path>

Enter "Y" to confirm and files are unpacked into the download directory or the 
directory specified.

3. After the files have been created, you may delete the self-exctracting file downloaded in step 1.

4. To install the driver:
	Insert the diskette into drive A: (or other diskette drive)
	From Control Panel select Sound Driver/change/Have Disk
	Follow the prompts to complete the installation

5.  When the installation is complete, shut down your system, remove the diskette and 
restart your computer.
