DESCRIPTION:  This SoftPaq creates two files -- a description file and a
large self-extracting executable file.  The self-extracting executable file 
contains Compaq Support Software for Microsoft Windows NT 4.00 
that supports the following subsystems and features of Compaq Professional 
Workstations and ProLiant and ProSignia Servers.

NOTE:  This same software is available in SoftPaq SP3980 in a form that 
creates diskettes rather than copying installation files to the hard disk.

features.  Other enhancements are listed below and in the NTREADME.HLP. 

Compaq Advanced Network Control Utility
- Added support for automatic duplex setting for all duplex 
  auto-negotiation enabled Network Interface Controllers.
- Added support to resolve NetFlex-3 Controller instances resulting from 
  missing Network Interface Controllers.
- Added support for the ProLiant 6500 and PCI adapters.
- Updated Graphical User Interface.

- Added support to display the status of PCI Hot Plug compatible Network

  Controller (a 10Base-T, 10Base-2 combination controller, with an RJ45 and 
  BNC connector).

Compaq PCI Hot Plug
- Added support for Compaq PCI Hot Plug bus.
- Added access capability to remote servers with Compaq PCI Hot Plug.

Compaq Power Down Manger
- Added support  to allow the system manager to configure the power off 
  behavior of the Intelligent Power Switch.

Compaq Remote Monitor Service
- Added control for Compaq PCI Hot Plug.
- Enabled access to servers installed by Compaq remote enabled utilities.

Compaq Remote Insight Management Board 
- Added Integrated Management Log (IML) support for ProLiant 6500 and 
  previous server products.  This new log requires the systems management 
  driver from SSD 2.00 A.
- Added Windows NT graphical remote access support.
  - You can view the console screen remotely and control Windows NT as if 
    you were using the local console.
  - Carbon Copy and pcANYWHERE are supported.
- Added browser support.
  - Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer are supported.
  - Supports all previous console application features and previous control 
    activities.

Compaq 32-Bit SCSI-2 Controllers
- Added System Event Logging support for controller failures and PCI Hot 
  Plug.

Compaq Support Software Setup Utility
- Added new support for hot plug components, new video drivers, and new 
  power switch application.
- Modified the installation of the remote service to allow more stringent 
  checking with regards to dependent component updates.
- Added support to the Compaq Support Software Setup Utility to correctly 
  identify the ELSA Gloria L/M 3D Graphics driver and the Matrox 
  Millennium/Millennium II Graphics driver.

Compaq System Management Driver
- Added support for ProLiant 6500 health features.
- Added support for Compaq PCI Hot Plug.
- Added support for the Intelligent Power Switch.
- Added support for PCI Hot Plug slots.
- Fixed a driver issue for the ProLiant 6000 redundant fans which requires 
  the use of SSD 1.23 A or SSD 2.00 A. The driver was not reporting fan 
  redundancy to the Insight Agents, though it was reporting correctly to the 
  Event Viewer and the Integrated Management Display.

Compaq Uninterrupted Power Supply
- Removed Compaq Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) support for SSD 2.00 A 
  and later.  You can only remove the UPS previously installed on your system 
  before SSD 2.00 A.

Compaq NetFlex/NetFlex-2 Controllers
- Removed all Compaq NetFlex-2 and Integrated NetFlex support for SSD 2.00 
  Rev A and later.  If you only have a NetFlex-2 controller or Integrated NetFlex 
  controller installed on your system, the Network tab in Setup will not 
  appear.

ESS AudioDrive Driver
- Added support for the ES1869.
- Disabled user ability to dynamically change resources (i.e. automated 
  install).

ProLiant 6500
- Updated the SYSMGMT.SYS to provide support for ProLiant 6500 Health 
  features.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change 
to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is a self-extracting
executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file 
and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the files.
The number of files to be created and total file size is displayed.
You will be given the chance to specify the target directory for 
the files, or default to the download directory.
The following files will be created:
       README.TXT
       NTSSD.EXE

3. After the files have been created, you may delete the  
self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.

4. From the directory in which the files are created, execute the 
self-extracting executable:
       NTSSD.EXE [ENTER]

5. Follow the instructions on the screen to extract (unzip) the support 
software files to a folder on your hard drive and run the program 
SETUP.EXE to install the software.
