FILE NAME: N/A
TITLE: Drive Array Advanced Diagnostics (DAAD)
VERSION: 1.40 Rev A
LANGUAGE: English
CATEGORY: Diagnostics/ Setup
EFFECTIVE DATE: 03 June 1997
PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Compaq products that contain a Smart SCSI Array
Controller using Fast-SCSI-2 drives
OPERATING SYSTEM: N/A
SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: Smart SCSI Array Controller and Fast-SCSI-2 drives
SUPERSEDES: SP2075
DESCRIPTION: Creates the Drive Array Advanced Diagnostics utility diskette.
The DAAD is a DOS-based tool for Compaq products with a Smart
SCSI Array Controller using Fast-SCSI-2 drives. The two main
functions of DAAD are to collect all possible information
about the array controllers in the system and generate a
list of detected problems. This data can then be saved to a
file for analysis. In most cases, DAAD will provide enough
information to initiate problem resolution immediately.
Enhancements:
- Added support for the System Partition Upgrade Utility (SPUU).
- Added ability to accomodate longer controller names in the windows of the
System View screen.
- Moved controller graphic up so that its card edge was visible on System
View screen.
- Added /E and /P strings to SMART-2 controllers to differentiate between EISA
and PCI versions.
- Added support for SMART-2SL controllers.
- Added reporting on SIMM state.
- Added reporting of Ultra SCSI Drives and S.M.A.R.T..
- Added reporting of Interrupt Count and Ultra Bus Faults to SCSI Bus Data.
- Added reporting of Predictive Failure Errors to Monitor & Performance Data.
Fixes:
- Corrected error in Physical Drive Data menu where Mode Sense Data Page 00
was missing the last data byte.
- Corrected the text being displayed for the SMART-2SL controller because it
was incorrectly being displayed as SMART-2.
HOW TO USE:
1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.
2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change
to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file
and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to
insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.
4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 1.
5. To install, boot with the diskette in drive A.
