DESCRIPTION:  This SoftPaq creates two files -- a description file and a 
large self-extracting executable file.  The self-extracting executable file 
contains Compaq Support Software for Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 that supports 
the subsystems and features listed below for Compaq Professional Workstations 
and ProLiant and ProSignia Servers.

NOTE:  This same software is available in SoftPaq SP3297 in a form that 
creates diskettes rather than copying installation files to the hard disk.

This release supports the new Compaq ProLiant 6500 with hot plug 
software features.  Other enhancements are listed below and in NTREADME.HLP.

Compaq Advanced Network Control Utility
- Added support for automatic duplex setting for all duplex 
  auto-negotiation enabled Network Interface Controllers.
- Added support to resolve NetFlex-3 Controller instances resulting from 
  missing Network Interface Controllers.
- Added support for the ProLiant 6500 and PCI adapters.
- Updated the Graphical User Interface.
- Added new icons.

Compaq Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL)
- HALMPS.DLL (v302.01) and HALUP.DLL (v302.01)
  - Added fixes from Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 Service Pack 5 and Hotfix 
    62660.
  - Added support for the /PCILOCK boot.ini option.
- HALMPS.DLL (v302.01) only
  - Added support for use of the high-resolution 8254 counter as a 
    profiling timer and the /USE8254 boot.ini option.
  - Added a new boot.ini option-/USETSC.  

Compaq Remote Insight Management Board 
- Added Integrated Management Log (IML) support for ProLiant 6500 and 
  previous server products.  This new log requires the systems management 
  driver from SSD 1.23 A.
- Added Windows NT graphical remote access support.
  - You can view the console screen remotely and control NT as if you 
    were using the local console.
  - Carbon Copy and pcANYWHERE are supported.
- Added browser support.
  - Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer are supported.
  - Supports all previous console application features and previous 
    control activities.

Compaq System Management Driver
- Added support for Compaq ProLiant 6500 Health features.
- Fixed a driver issue for the ProLiant 6000 redundant fans which 
  requires the use of SSD 1.23 A or SSD 2.00 A.  The driver was not 
  reporting fan redundancy to the Insight Agents, though it was reporting 
  correctly to the Event Viewer and the Integrated Management Display.

Compaq Integrated Management Display Utility
- Fixed the context-sensitive help for the tabs located on the Options 
  dialog box.

ELSA Gloria-L Video Driver
- Added support for the Compaq Professional Workstation 8000 and the 
  Compaq Professional Workstation 6000. 
- Updated the Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 third party graphics driver 
  files for the ELSA Gloria-L Video Driver.

Matrox Millennium Graphics Driver for NT 3.51
- Added Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 Display Driver support to the updated 
  version (2.31) of Matrox Millennium/Millennium II display adapters so 
  that the adapters will provide support for the Compaq Professional 
  Workstation 8000 and the Compaq Professional Workstation 6000. 

Compaq 32-Bit SCSI-2 Controller
- Fixed the Moselle/P6 installation problem for the Compaq Ultra Wide 
  controller where it does not run at 20 MTS if the EISA configuration has 
  never been run.
- Notified the port driver of aborted pending irp's on a SCSI bus reset 
  in the CPQFWS2E.SYS (a Windows NT file) and CPQ32FS2.SYS.  This 
  notification prevents irp?s from timing out.

SMART-2DH Controller
- Added new hardware support for the SMART-2DH Controller.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change 
to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is a self-extracting
executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

2. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file 
and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the files.
The number of files to be created and total file size is displayed.
You will be given the chance to specify the target directory for 
the files, or default to the download directory.
The following files will be created:
       README.TXT
       NTSSD.EXE

3. After the files have been created, you may delete the  
self-extracting file downloaded in step 1.

4. From the directory in which the files are created, execute the 
self-extracting executable:
       NTSSD.EXE [ENTER]

5. Follow the instructions on the screen to extract (unzip) the support 
software files to a folder on your hard drive and run the program 
SETUP.EXE to install the software.
