Compaq Utilities/Compaq Diagnostics/Categories/Multimedia. 
If the display indicates Interwave audio rather than ESS audio, 
use SoftPaq SP2838 instead of this SoftPaq.
If the third digit of the Presario model number does NOT match 
xx6x, xx7x, or xx8x, then refer to SoftPaqs SP2841 and SP2842.

DESCRIPTION:  Creates a bootable diskette containing an update 
for the specific Presario models mentioned above in the Products 
Affected section.  This update fixes the problem where the 
computer locks up or fails to restart Windows 95 after quitting 
the DOS-based games Magic Carpet or PGA Tour '96.  The update 
modifies the specialized AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files that 
are used by these games when they are started from their icons in 
the Start/Entertainment menu.

HOW TO USE:

1.  Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette.

2.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and 
change to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP2837.EXE.

3.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP2837 [ENTER]
You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44-MB diskette into a 
diskette drive to create the diskette.

4.  After the diskette is created, you may delete the downloaded file 
SP2837.EXE if you wish.

5.  To install the update, insert this bootable diskette in 
drive A: and restart the system.  When the files have been copied 
and a green screen is displayed, remove the diskette and restart 
the system again.  The update has now been applied.
