DESCRIPTION:  Creates the executable CPQADAPT.EXE, which can be used on 
a Compaq Deskpro XL with an Adaptec 3940U or 3940UW SCSI adapter 
installed to enable the adapter as a "Bus Master" so that it configures 
properly.  This corrects the problem where the Adaptec adapter does not 
configure and no hard drives connected to it are recognized.

HOW TO USE:

1.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to 
that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP2689.EXE.

2.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP2689 [ENTER]
The following files should be created:
CPQADAPT.EXE
CPQADAPT.DOC

3.  After the files are created, you may delete the downloaded file 
SP2689.EXE if you wish.

4. Run CPQADAPT.EXE from the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. 
For example, move the file CPQADAPT.EXE to the DOS directory and insert 
the following line near the top of the AUTOEXEC.BAT file:

C:\DOS\CPQADAPT
