DESCRIPTION:  FIX50F.COM enables Compaq computers to run 
QBASIC programs in the above-mentioned operating systems.  It 
resolves the error message "Cannot execute as a child of BASIC".

The program uses the following command line parameters: 
FIX50F [drive:][path] /I | /U
Use parameter "I" to (I)nstall or "U" (U)ninstall

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive, for example 
C:\UTIL, and change to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is 
SP2517.EXE.

2. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP2517 [ENTER]
Th following files should be created:
FIX50F.COM
FIX50F.DOC 

3. After the files are created, you may delete the downloaded file 
SP2517.EXE if you wish.

4. Make sure the file FIX50F.COM is in a directory in the path.

NOTE:  For Windows 3.10 or Windows 95, follow steps 5 and 6.
For Windows NT, skip steps 5 and 6; follow steps 7 through 9.

5. Edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT file and add the FIX50F command.

6. Reboot the computer.

For Windows NT:

7. Activate a DOS instance by clicking on the MS-DOS icon.

8. From the C: prompt enter: FIX50F /I 

9. Start the QBASIC program you wish to run.
