PREREQUISITE:  On Windows 95 systems, this SoftPaq requires that 
Windows 95 was either pre-installed on the unit by Compaq or was 
installed or upgraded using the Microsoft Windows 95 CD.   This is 
because these agents work in conjunction with intelligent features 
provided by Microsoft on the Windows 95 CD.

DESCRIPTION: 
Combines support of both Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Windows NT, 
including NT Version 4.0, into one package (support for these 
environments was formerly delivered separately).  
Supports the Deskpro 2000 Series, which was formerly supported separately.
This product provides local alerting and SNMP agents for 
Compaq Desktop Systems that support Intelligent Manageability running 
either Windows 95 or Windows NT.  Local alerting notifies the user if 
the system temperature has been exceeded under normal operating 
conditions or an imminent drive failure has been detected.  SNMP agents 
allow the system to be managed by SNMP-compliant management applications 
such as Compaq Insight Manager.  Desktop Management Interface (DMI) 
support allows the computer to be managed by DMI-compliant management 
applications for Windows 95 only.

HOW TO USE:

1.  Obtain two  formatted 1.44 MB diskettes.

2.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to 
that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP2449.EXE.

3.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP2449 [ENTER]
You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskettes into a 
diskette drive to create diskette.

4.  After the diskettes are created, you may delete the downloaded file 
SP2449.EXE if you wish.

5.  To allow network installation, copy the diskettes to a hard drive as 
follows:
     a. Create a temporary directory on your hard drive. 
        (for example C:\SP2449) 
     b. Create two subdirectories named DISK1 and DISK2 in this 
        temporary directory. 
        (for example C:\SP2449\DISK1 and C:\SP2449\DISK2)
     c. Copy all files from the first created diskette into the 
        DISK1 subdirectory and all files from the second created 
        diskette into the DISK2 subdirectory.

6.  Read all README files on the diskettes before running SETUP to 
install.

7.  To start the installation from Windows 95, select Start, Run, 
then enter the path to SETUP.EXE in the DISK1 subdirectory 
(example: C:\SP2449\DISK1\SETUP).  Follow the on-screen instructions.

8.  After completing the installation, view the help file (INTMGMT.HLP) 
by selecting the help icon(s) in the Compaq Information Center groupbox.
