DESCRIPTION: This product provides local alerting, SNMP, and DMI 
agents for Compaq Desktop Systems supporting Intelligent
Manageability and running either Windows 95 or Window NT.  Local
alerting notifies the user if the system temperature has been
exceeded under normal conditions or an imminent drive
failure has been detected.  SNMP agents allow the system to be
managed by SNMP-compliant management applications such as Compaq
Insight Manager.  Desktop Management Interface (DMI) support allows
the computer to be managed by DMI-compliant management applications,
new for Windows NT.

HOW TO USE:

1. Obtain two formatted 1.44MB diskettes.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to
that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP2438.EXE.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP2438[ENTER]
You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskettes into a
diskette drive to create diskette.

4. After the diskettes are created, you may delete the downloaded file
SP2438.EXE if you wish.

5. To start the installation from Windows 95 or NT 4.0, select Start,
Run, then enter:
        A:\SETUP.EXE -ADDMI

To start the installation from Windows NT 3.51, select File, Run
from Program Manager, then enter:
        A:\SETUP.EXE -ADDMI

NOTE: Using the command line switch "-ADDMI" will enable a dialog box
that asks if DMI is to be installed.  Without the switch, the dialog will not
be displayed.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

7.  After completing the installation, view the help file "Intelligent
Manageability" (INTMGMT3.HLP) by selecting the help icon in the Compaq
Information Center groupbox.
