the Compaq 32-Bit Fast-Wide SCSI-2 Controller.
o Compaq System Wellness Driver. System Wellness features include
hardware components that monitor system activity, temperature
conditions, fan operation, EISA bus utilization, and operation
system up time. It also provides Automatic Server Recovery and
Health Log Support for the Compaq SystemPro/XL, Compaq
ProLiant, and Compaq ProSignia Servers.
o Compaq Intelligent Drive Array support. Support is included
for the Compaq Intelligent Drive Array, Compaq IDA-Expansion,
Compaq IDA-2, Compaq SMART, and Compaq SMART-2 controllers.
o ProLiant Multiprocessing (MP) Support. This software allows the
use of more than two CPUs in a ProLiant Server System.
NOTE: A copy of SCO MPX 3.0 must be installed for each additional CPU.
ALSO NOTE: For Proliant 1500 and 5000, SCO Advanced Hardware Supplement
3.4 must be installed, followed by SCO Support Level Supplement (SLS) UOD421A.
o Boot-Time Loadable Driver (BTLD). The Boot-Time Loadable Driver
diskette is used when installing SCO OPEN SERVER RELEASE 3.0 on
Compaq systems.
UTILITIES INCLUDED IN EFS 3.10
o SCSI-2 Management Utility. The SCSI-2 Management Utility

INSTALLATION CONSIDERATIONS
o Disk Storage Requirements:
If you have an Extended Industry Standard Architecture (EISA)
hardware configuration, 8 megabytes of disk storage is required
for all of the device drivers and utilities of EFS 3.10. EISA
Options are not installed on Industry Standard Architecture
(ISA) systems, therefore only 2 megabytes of disk storage are
required to install EFS 3.10 on ISA hardware configurations.
o Operating System Requirements:
The following operating system releases are supported by EFS
3.10:
SCO UNIX System V/386 Release 3.2 Version 4.0 with Maintenance
Supplement 4.2
SCO Open Desktop or SCO Open Desktop Lite, Release 3.0
SCO Open Server Enterprise 3.0
SCO Open Server Network 3.0
SCO MPX Release 3.0
o Other considerations:
To run TCP/IP over the networking package of the Compaq EFS for
SCO OPEN SERVER RELEASE 3.0, TCP/IP should be installed on your
system prior to installing the supplement. If a version of
TCP/IP is installed after installing this supplement, netconfig
or mkdev cet must be run to configure TCP/IP. SCO TCP/IP (for
SCO OPEN SERVER RELEASE 3.0 System V) Version 1.2 for 3.2v4
based systems must be used. TCP/IP is included in SCO Open
Desktop.
To access certain SCSI devices during installation of SCO OPEN
SERVER RELEASE 3.0, the Boot-Time Loadable Driver (BTLD)
diskette, available on the Compaq Support Software CD, may be
needed. Refer to section 8, "Installing SCO OPEN SERVER RELEASE
3.0 using the BTLD diskette."
To install the disks connected to a Compaq SMART-2 controller
as the primary boot device, an N1 Boot diskette containing the
new IDA driver must be used. In addition, the BTLD diskette
must be used to include this driver in the link kit on the root
file system. The N1 and BTLD diskettes can be found as part of
the EFS package.
HOW TO USE:
IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO THE SYSTEM WHILE PERFORMING THIS PROCEDURE!
Follow these steps to create the six (6) EFS 3.10 diskettes:
1. Download the SoftPaq to an empty directory and change to that directory.
2. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file: SP2360 [ENTER]
The following files should be created:
EFS310._01
EFS310._02
EFS310._03
EFS310._04
EFS310._05
EFS310._06
QRST.EXE
README.DOC
3. Obtain 6 DOS formatted 1.44 MB diskettes
IMPORTANT: Only 1.44 MB, DOS formatted diskettes can be used, other types of media cannot be substituted.
4. Follow the further instructions in README.DOC to create the diskettes by executing the QRST.EXE program and then read all information in the README.EFS file on the documentation diskette before installing the EFS.
5. After the diskettes are created, you may delete the downloaded file SP2360.EXE and the other files created on the hard drive if you wish.
