DESCRIPTION:  On the LTE 5000 Series of laptops the serial number is 
fixed.  On previous Compaq laptop series, some companies depended on 
this serial number being accessible and changeable as a 'tag'  for 
internal asset tracking.  This utility along with the Asset Management 
functionality included in BIOS versions 4.2 and above makes the 
serial number available for this purpose.

HOW TO USE:

1.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to 
that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP2236.EXE.

2.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP2236 [ENTER]
The following files should be created:
SN_UTIL.EXE
SP2236.DOC
README.TXT

3.  After the files are created, you may delete the downloaded file 
SP2236.EXE if you wish.

4.  Refer to SP2236.DOC and README.TXT for instructions on installing 
and using the software.
