DESCRIPTION:  Allows users of Compaq notebook and  laptop computers to 
detect whether or not they are plugged into their expansion base and use 
that information to branch to a batch file.  This version improves 
reporting and adds support for new products.

The Desktop Expansion Base provides two full length Industry Standard 
expansion slots.  The laptops are unlike desktop computers in that their 
expansion  slots (and peripherals in those slots) MAY or MAY NOT be 
present at any given time.  Users have requested a method of detecting 
the presence of their peripherals in the expansion slots in order to 
have their batch files branch accordingly.  EX_BOX.EXE provides this 
capability by using the DOS ERRORLEVEL to branch to the batch files.

HOW TO USE:

1.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to 
that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP2170.EXE.

2.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP2170 [ENTER]
The following two files are created:
EX_BOX.DOC
EX_BOX.EXE

3.  You may delete the downloaded file SP2170.EXE if you wish.

4.  Refer to EX_BOX.DOC for specific installation instructions and 
additional help.
