(Note:  SP2164 and SP1920 contain identical ROMPaqs; however, 
SP2164 is able to create the ROMPaq diskette on an LS-120 drive, and 
SP1920 is not.)

DESCRIPTION:  This creates a ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade Diskette for the 
Compaq Deskpro XE Series on a 1.44-MB drive or an LS-120 drive.  This 
diskette upgrades the System ROM on Deskpro XE units with a 486A1 Family 
ROM to the 10/31/94 version.  The ROM Family and ROM date can be 
determined by running F10 Setup.  
This 10/31/94 version changes the Audio PnP device information 
from 10-bit decode to 16-bit decode.

HOW TO USE:

1.  Obtain a formatted 1.44 MB diskette.

2.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to 
that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP2164.EXE.

3.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
    SP2164 [ENTER]
You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskette into a 
diskette drive to create the diskette.

4.  After the diskette is created, you may delete the downloaded file 
SP2164.EXE if you wish.

5.  Keeping the newly created diskette in the A: drive, cycle system 
power to boot from the ROMPaq diskette.

6.  Follow the on-screen instructions to select the 10/31/94 Compaq 
System ROM and flash the firmware.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO THE SYSTEM WHILE PERFORMING THIS 
PROCEDURE!
