TITLE: Armada E500 Remote System BIOS (ROM) Upgrade (686N ROM)

DESCRIPTION:
This Softpaq creates .CAB files that contain a binary image for
the System ROM for Armada E500 Series notebooks with a 686N Family ROM.
The ROM Family and ROM date can be determined by running F10 Setup.
To flash (upgrade) the ROM image remotely over a network with these .CAB files,
you must use Remote Management Software such as Compaq System Software
Manager (SSM).

This contains the same System ROM that was in SoftPaq SP20082, but it corrects
a potential problem with the SSM delivery mechanism that existed in SoftPaq SP20082.

 - Fixes an issue with the Compaq Internet keyboard.
 - Fixes an issue where the Trackpoint cursor freezes in Windows 2000 when the 
   "Press to Select" option is selected in the Easypoint software.
 - Fixes an issue where the embedded keypad is active when a USB keyboard or
   keypad is attached.
 
PREREQUISITES: 
Compaq System Software Manager (available in Softpaq SP17447)
 
HOW TO 

1. Download the SoftPaq to a temporary, empty directory on your hard drive. The
file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the
SoftPaq Number above.

2. The BIOS/ROM image file must be used with Remote Management Software in
order to actually flash (upgrade) the ROM image on one of the affected Armada
notebooks.

3. When used with SSM, copy the SoftPaq to the file store.

4. When used with WINFLASH, run the SoftPaq to get the .cab file.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO THE COMPUTER WHILE PERFORMING THIS
PROCEDURE!
