DESCRIPTION:
This softpaq contains the complete LanSafe III Version 4.17, for all
supported operating systems.   This application provides system administrators with
an overview of power conditions and the ability to configure shutdown timing,
customize alert messages, and perform UPS diagnostic checks.  LanSafe III is bundled with all Compaq UPS models 700VA and greater.


Enhancements/Fixes: 
  This release contains additional Alarm Support for the R12000XR UPS.  


HOW TO USE:

 1. Download the SoftPaq into a directory and change to that
    directory.  The file that is downloaded is an executable with
    a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

 2. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file.
    From the directory that contains the expanded files.
    Follow the installation instructions below.

 3. Install LanSafe III.

	A. If the Softpaq was expanded on a different computer than the one
		on which the software will be installed, copy the files to the
		desired computer.

	B. Run the installation program for your operating system as follows:
	
		Windows:
			Run SETUP.EXE from the \LANSAFE\NTAND95 (English) or
			\LANSAFE\NTAND95J (Japanese) directory.

		NetWare:
			Load LS3SETUP.NLM from the \LANSAFE\NETWARE directory.

		Tru64/OpenServer/UnixWare/Linux:
			Run the installation script INSTALL.SH from the base
			directory in which the expanded files reside.

	C. Follow the instructions on the screen.
	

 4. After the program is installed, the Softpaq and all installation files
	expanded in step 2 can be deleted.
