EFFECTIVE DATE: 21 June 1996
PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Systempro/XL, ProSignia and ProLiant Servers
with an EISA or PCI Smart-2 Array Controller.
OPERATING SYSTEM: All
SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: Systempro/XL, ProSignia and ProLiant Servers
with an EISA or PCI Smart-2 Array Controller.
SUPERSEDES: SP1518
DESCRIPTION:
This version corrects an internal error 44 or 45 that occurs when the Compaq
Array Configuration Utility Version 1.01 Rev A or earlier is used to
expand and add logical drives to a drive array that was originally
connected to a Compaq SMART array controller but is now connected to a
Compaq SMART-2 array controller. (Also refer to SofPaq SP1961.)
The Array Configuration utility is installed on the System Partition for
those systems which support it and have hard drives. It is shipped as
diskette(s) on all other products.
HOW TO USE:
1. Obtain two formatted 1.44 MB diskettes.
2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to
that directory. The file that is downloaded is SP1976.EXE.
3. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP1976 [ENTER]
You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskettes into a
diskette drive to create the diskettes.
4. After the diskettes are created, you may delete the downloaded file
SP1976.EXE if you wish.
HOW TO UPGRADE THE SYSTEM PARTITION:
If the Array Configuration Utility (ACU) is installed on the System
Partition, boot to the System Partition and navigate through the menus
and select the Upgrade System Partition choice. Place an X next to the
Array Configuration Utility and press ENTER. You will be prompted to
insert both diskettes and after the files have been copied; you can run
the ACU from the System Partition.
NOTE: This requires a 32MB System Partition which can only be created on
a hard disk with 32MB of unused space at the beginning of the drive. Use
the Compaq System Configuration Utility Version 2.30 or later to create
a 32MB System Partition. Search for the latest version of the Compaq
System Configuration Utility as a downloadable Diagnostics/Setup Softpaq
(e.g., Ver 2.30 Rev G may be available in Softpaq SP1855).
HOW TO UPGRADE THE WINDOWS NT VERSION:
If the Array Configuration Utility is installed online on a Windows NT
server, follow the directions in the Windows NT Support Software
Diskette's README.TXT file to perform the upgrade.
Search for the latest version of the Windows NT Support Software
Diskette as a downloadable Softpaq from Compaq
(e.g., SP1578 for NT 3.50 or SP1581 for NT 3.51 may be available).
HOW TO RUN THE OFFLINE VERSION:
If the ACU is not installed on the System Partition or on an NT server,
power down your computer, place the Compaq System Configuration Utility
diskette number 1 in Drive A:, and power up your computer.
