Desktop and minitower models that have a 486G, 486G1, 486G2, or 486G3
family system ROM, such as:
Deskpro 450, 466, 4100, 575, 590, 5100, 5120;
ProLinea 450, 466, 4100, 575, 590, 5100, 5120
OPERATING SYSTEM: MS-DOS 5.0 or greater
SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: Artist 2000i PCI video board and Sony Multiscan
monitor
SUPERSEDES: SP1517
DESCRIPTION: This creates an interim firmware upgrade diskette that
allows a user to upgrade the System ROM on any of the above-mentioned
Deskpro or ProLinea models to an 01 May 1996 System ROM. This ROM
corrects a lock-up problem during system post when a Sony Multiscan
monitor is used.
HOW TO USE:
1. Obtain a formatted 1.44 MB diskette.
2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to
that directory. The file that is downloaded is SP1957.EXE.
3. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP1957 [ENTER]
You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskette into a
diskette drive to create the diskette.
4. After the diskette is created, you may delete the downloaded file
SP1957.EXE if you wish.
5. Power down the computer.
6. Place the newly created ROMPaq Diskette in Drive A:, power up the
computer, and follow on-screen instructions to upgrade the system ROM.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO THE SYSTEM WHILE PERFORMING THIS
PROCEDURE!
