HOW TO USE:
1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive.The file downloaded is a
self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the
drivers and firmware update utility.

HOW TO USE:
Standard Installation
Please refer to the Getting Started Guide that came with your
product for the hardware installation.
To install the drivers:
1. Run softpaq.
2. Power down computer. Unplug computer. Open computer case.
Install Compaq 10/100 Ethernet PCI Adapter in an available PCI slot.
Close case. Plug in computer. Power on computer.
3. Hardware and drivers should be automatically installed without
user intervention.
4. Alert should be given from systray stating that your hardware
has been installed correctly and is ready for use.
* If the Hardware Found Wizard appears...
1. Choose "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)".
2. Click Next.
3. Make sure the checkbox "Include this location in the search" is the
only box checked.
4. Click the Browse button and navigate to the folder to which you
unpacked the SoftPaq files (this is the folder that contains the
ReadME.txt file you are currently reading).
5. Click Next when done.
6. Windows copies the driver files and installs the hardware in the
system.
7. Click "Finish" when the installation is complete.
Upgrading previous installation
If you have previously installed a version of the XP drivers,
you are required to do a driver update:
1. Click the Start button.
2. Click on "Control Panel".
3. Click on "Switch to Classic View"
4. Double click on "System".
5. Click on the Hardware Tab.
6. Click on the Device Manager Button.
7. Double click on the Network Adapter section. (If the adapter is
not listed, it may be under Unknown Devices).
8. Right click on the device.
9. Select "Update Driver" from the pop-up list.
10. Choose "Install from a list or specific location." Click Next.
11. Make sure only "Include this location in search" is checked.
12. Click the Browse button. Navigate to the folder to which you
extract the softpaq.
13. Click OK.
14. Click Next to proceed.
15. Windows should find the new drivers in the softpaq directory.
16. Follow the prompts to complete the update installation.
