DESCRIPTION:  This creates a diskette which contains the SMARTClient 
support for Compaq desktop systems that support Intelligent 
Manageability and Proactive Tape Backup for Windows NT.  Compaq Insight 
Management Desktop Agents must be installed on the desktop system. The 
SMARTClient operates on Compaq Desktop computers that have Intelligent 
Manageability features, monitoring the health of the hard drive and 
generating alert notification for the backup application if a fault is 
detected through Compaq Insight Manager.  The backup may either be 
targeted at a local PowerDrive CD device, or across the network to a 
NetWare or NT server running Seagate Backup Exec server software.

PREREQUISITES:  This software requires Windows NT 3.51 and the Compaq 
Insight Management Agents for Windows NT to be installed on the local 
system.  Additionally, for remote (over the net) backup, it requires a  
file server running NetWare 3.11, 3.12 or 4.x, or a file server running 
Windows NT Server Version 3.5 or above with Backup Exec for NetWare 
versions 7.x or Backup Exec for Windows NT Version 6.x or above.

HOW TO USE

1. Obtain one (1) formatted 1.44MB diskette and place it in one of your 
diskette drives.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to 
that directory.  The file downloaded to your hard drive is SP1906.EXE.

3. Execute the SoftPaq file to create the diskette:
   SP1906 [ENTER]

4. After the diskette is created, you may delete the downloaded file 
SP1906.EXE if you wish.

5. Copy BEDFPSVC.EXE and BESMCFG.CPL from the diskette to the 
\WINNT35\SYSTEM32 directory (or the SYSTEM32 directory under which you 
installed Windows NT Workstation).  

6. Open Control Panel and double click on the Backup Exec SMARTClient 
Icon to start the SMARTClient service.
