DESCRIPTION:  Creates a diskette that allows a user to upgrade the 
the modem ROM to version 1.043 on a Compaq 288 PCMCIA Modem.

ROM Updates:
* A hardware handshaking problem (V.32/V.32bis only) between this card 
and some Primary Access V.34 modems has been corrected.  Under certain 
conditions, this handshake was found to fail, causing the data call to 
fail.
* Corrects a potential system lockup when running FTP under Windows 95.

HOW TO USE:

1. Obtain a formatted 1.44 MB diskette.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to 
that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP1847.EXE.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
   SP1847 [ENTER]
You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskette into a 
diskette drive to create the diskette.

4. After the diskette is created, you may delete the downloaded file 
SP1847.EXE if you wish.

5. Refer to the README.1ST file on the diskette for instructions on 
installing the ROMPaq.
