HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The recommended directory name, used in the examples in step 4, is C:\CPQ. The file that is downloaded is SP1837.EXE.

2. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP1837 [ENTER]
The following files should be created:
SETECP.EXE
SETECP.DOC

3. After the files are created, you may delete the downloaded file SP1837.EXE if you wish.

4. Add a line to either AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS (not both) to load SETECP, as in the following examples.
IMPORTANT: SETECP must be loaded prior to any other drivers that require EPP or ECP support.

To load SETECP from the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, add the following line:
<drive>:\<directory>\SETECP.EXE
Example:  C:\CPQ\SETECP.EXE

To load SETECP from the CONFIG.SYS file, add the following line:
DEVICE=<drive>:\<directory>\SETECP.EXE
Example: DEVICE=C:\CPQ\SETECP.EXE

5. Save the changes to the appropriate file, and exit the editor.

6. Reboot the machine for the changes to take effect.

7. A message should be displayed saying "ECP is enabled" upon successful completion. It may be very difficult to see this message if SETECP is loaded from the CONFIG.SYS file on a computer running Windows 95.
