DESCRIPTION: Contains a utility that allows the user to enable/disable the automatic timeout
feature of the network card drivers in the iPAQ Pocket PC Series listed above.
When using a Wireless PC Card in an iPAQ Pocket PC with this feature disabled,
the card will keep the unit powered on and will eventually drain the battery
if A/C power is not present. A complete battery drain will result in loss of
data and programs that have been stored in RAM. If the utility is used to enable
the timeout feature, the iPAQ Pocket PC will power off if it came on by itself
and there was no user input to the screen within 1 minute.
NOTE: If the iPAQ is in the cradle and it automatically powers on to synchronize
with the host PC, it will turn itself off after 1 minute, even during synchronization
unless input to the screen is received within the first minute.
The most common times when the Pocket PC automatically powers on are:
- All handheld devices power on momentarily at 12:00 a.m. to perform Pocket PC
operations.
- When a reminder notification from within the Calendar powers on the Pocket PC.
HOW TO USE:
1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive.
The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable
with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
Entering "Space Bar" to confirm the unpacking of files creates a
new directory folder in the download directory. All files are
unpacked into this newly created directory.
3. Execute WLAN Timeout Setting.exe from the newly created directory from
step 2 and follow the on screen instruction.
4. You may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1 if you wish.
5. After the installation is completed, you may delete the directory created
in step 2 if you wish.
