Please stop all backup applications before updating a tape drive or
tape library.  Depending on your software application, you may need to
unmount (unreserve) any tape cartridges in the library.  See your
computer operating system documentation or software application 
documentation for instructions on how to unmount tape cartridges.


* NOTE 1:  The tape drives inside the TL891 library do not come ready and 
do not report the correct firmware version when the servo FW is upgraded. After 
the firmware is upgraded, you must power-cycle the tape library 
(or use the reboot function on the front panel). If the library is running code
older than v80 you must first upgrade to v80 dec classic code, and then upgrade
to the latest Compaq firmware.

* NOTE 2: Due to space restraints inherent to diskettes, it is necessary
to first boot diskette #1, then insert the noted diskette and proceed with
the change disk option.

* NOTE 3 Note 2 applies in addition to selecting the correct diskette as 
indicated by the SCSI adapter used by the device(s).

DESCRIPTION:  The Tape Options ROMPaq diskettes allow a users to
              upgrade the ROM Firmware images on Compaq tape 
              product Options. The Tape Options ROMPaq consists of twenty four 
              (24) diskettes (the number will be greatly reduced in the next release):

HOW TO USE:

1. Obtain up to 1-24 1.44-MB diskette.

2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change 
to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is an executable with 
a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above.

3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file 
and follow the on-screen instructions.  You will be prompted to 
insert a formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette.

4. After all diskettes have been created, you may delete the  
SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2.

5. The Tape Options ROMPaq diskettes are self-booting diskettes.
Place the ROMPaq diskette into your drive A: diskette drive and
power cycle your system to begin updating the appropriate components.
