DESCRIPTION:
This software contains the files needed to install Compaq Management Agents for 
the Compaq Desktop Systems listed below that support Intelligent Manageability 
running either Windows 95/98, Windows NT, and Windows 2000.

Compaq Management Agents provide local alerting, DMI, SNMP and DMI web agents. 
Local alerting notifies the user if the system temperature has been exceeded 
under normal operating conditions or if an imminent drive failure has been 
detected. SNMP agents allow the system to be managed by SNMP-compliant 
management applications such as Compaq Insight Manager.

Desktop Management Interface (DMI) support allows the computer to be managed by 
DMI-compliant management applications.

DMI Web agents allow the computer to be managed both locally and remotely by a 
web browser (Internet Explorer 4.01 or later).

ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES:
- Correctly report "Intel Pentium 4" instead of "Intel Other" on the web page.
- Fix Memory Configuration change to report memory modules greater than 255MB as 
  the real size.
- Use newer web server (CPQHMMO.DLL v2.2.1.2) that addresses a potential security 
  vulnerability in Compaq web-enabled software, which allows them to act as 
  generic proxy server.   For more information, see

- Detects and reports more proactive backup software solutions.
- Supports new Compaq monitor serial number encoding.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded 
is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number 
above. 

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. 

3. After the files have been unpacked, you may delete the self-extracting file 
downloaded in step 1. 

4. To install, read and follow the instructions provided with the software. 

5. To create (optional) installation (or other deliverable) diskette(s) run 
MAKEDISK.BAT and follow the on-screen instructions. MAKEDISK.BAT is included 
only if installation diskette(s) creation is an option. 

6. After the installation is completed, you may delete the directory created in 
step 2 if you wish.
