DESCRIPTION:
Compaq Diagnostics for Windows will display information about the computer's 
hardware and software configuration and test the computer to ensure it is 
operating properly.

ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES:
 - Added NIC identification and test support for Windows XP.
 - Added Parallel test support under Windows XP.
 - Added serial test support under Windows XP.
 - Added sequential read test for tape drives.
 - Add support for testing graphic modes: 1792x1344 , 1800x1880, and 2048x1536.
 - Added translations for new test choices.
 - Added translations for new status bar messages.
 - Added translations for logical and physical drive information.
 - Fixed translation spelled incorrectly; understotte should have been underst?tte.
 - Added translations for new interactive wave form tests messages.
 - Fixed problem with input Devices icon on the diagnostics window disappearing 
   after re-installing the MouseWare 9.25 after removing it.
 - Fixed the problem where the NIC Ping test does not fail when the network cable 
   is disconnected.
 - Added translation for new parallel port testing messages.
 - Fix USB Floppy drive displayed on the test list.
 - Modified installation to fix multi-language installation issues.

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded 
is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number 
above.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. Press 
'Space Bar' to confirm the unpacking of files creates a new directory folder in 
the download directory.  All files are unpacked into this newly created 
directory.

To create the four optional installation diskettes, run MAKEDISK.BAT and follow 
on-screen instructions.

3. To install Interactively:
       a) Delete all previous versions of Diagnostics for Windows 1.xx.  Since 
          the DFW 1.xx is a 16-bit application that does not have an uninstall, simply 
          delete the C:\WINDOWS\CPQDIAG directory.
   
       b) Remove all previous versions of Diagnostics for Windows 2.xx.
          - Select Start, Settings, Control Panel
          - Select Add/Remove Programs
          - Select Compaq Diagnostics for Windows and "Add/Remove"
          - delete the C:\WINDOWS\CPQDIAG directory if it still exists
   
       c) Install this version of Diagnostics for Windows
          - Insert diskette #1 into drive A: if installing from optional diskettes
          - Run A:\SETUP.EXE or <path>\SETUP.EXE where <path> is directory from step 2      
          - Select Next
          - Select Finish

       d) Restart the computer for the changes to be in effect
   
   To install non-interactively ("silently"):
       a) Go to the download directory from step 2 above, or copy the contents 
          of all four (4) optional installation diskettes into a directory on the hard 
          drive.
      
       b) Run SETUP.EXE -S from the directory in a) above. 
   
       c) Restart the computer for the changes to be in effect.

4. After the installation is completed, you may delete the directory created in 
step 2 if you wish.
