DESCRIPTION:
This software creates a bootable ROMPaq firmware diskette that can be used to 
restore or upgrade the system ROM in the Professional Workstation models AP550 
and SP750 with a 686J4 family ROM. 

The ROM family and ROM date can be determined by running F10 Setup. 

A unique feature of the ROM is one that allows the user to select the language 
used in F10 Setup.  The user may choose between Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish,
French, German, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, or Swedish. 
Please note however, that the user sees the chosen language only in F10 Setup, 
not in the operating system.

ENHANCEMENTS/FIXES:
- Latest Intel microcode patch (MU168313) included for slot 1 Coppermine B0 
  stepping processors.
- Latest Pentium III Xeon processor microcode patches.
- Corrected PCI autoconfiguration allocating too much PCI space from 4GB physical 
  memory.
- Corrected PCI option ROM memory collision when one PCI option ROM does not have 
  enough room to download.
- Fixes a problem with certain PCI RAID controllers which prevented them from 
  working on every boot after the first time it is installed.

HOW TO USE:

1.  Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette and place it in your A: drive.

2.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that 
directory.  The file that is downloaded is an executable with a filename based 

on the SoftPaq Number above.

3.  From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file and follow the 
on-screen instructions to build the ROMPaq diskette.

4.  After the diskette has been created, you may delete the SoftPaq file 
downloaded in step 2.

5.  Place the newly created diskette in the A: drive of the computer to be 
upgraded or restored and cycle system power to boot from the ROMPaq diskette.

6.  Follow the on-screen instructions to select the v3.05 Compaq System ROM and 
flash the firmware.

WARNING:  DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR ATTEMPT TO REBOOT THE COMPUTER DURING THE 
UPGRADE PROCESS!!!
